While she can't enact her priorities into law with the current legislators, Hobbs could be going around the state pounding the GOP in town meetings and media interviews. Using the "bully pulpit," in short. Of course, since she didn't (wouldn't?) do that in the campaign, it's not likely she will. Since she's not very active in public, I hope she's having back room meetings with the few reasonable Republicans in the legislature.

Okay, I set the bar too high. Make that: "few not-completely-frigging crazy Republicans in the legislature."

Does some chaos at the start concern me? Sure. But I try to think of it in context.

Not that I'm a big sports guy, but I have likened Hobbs' role to that of a goalie in hockey; her vetos are blocking lots of shots from the Republican legislative majority. But since that majority doesn't involve the minority in much, the legislation she blocks comes hard and fast - I am happily surprised when she accomplishes anything else. So, yes, I'd say, let's look at her accomplishments after a year, those that she can do without a cooperative legislature; a 100 days measure made sense for FDR in the Depression, but I'm not sure how relevant it is in this situation.

Every time I read another bats*it crazy bill from Republicans, my initial response is to panic and then I say “thank god for Katie Hobbs”.

Why must all the priorities come from the Governor? Should not that list come from the Republican and Democrat senators and representatives? Would not water be a BIG issue, finding a way to carry out lawful executions, getting our schools properly funded, etc. Opps, my bad, I forgot that’s not possible when none of our elected officials (R/D) will really talk to each other. It’s got to be my way or nothing. This them vs us attitude is bad for our State!
